Introduction:
Over two days in February 2009 a broad cross section of the Houston community came together with numerous national thought leaders to create a new vision for a healthier future for Houstonians. Students, teachers, parents, health professionals, local and national businesses, and many others rolled up their sleeves and designed prototype projects describing how students and staff can eat healthier foods and move more during the school day.
With the help of David Cooperrider, Summit participants engaged in a series of planning sessions based on a process known as Appreciative Inquiry (AI). A camera crew streamed live video of the event to virtual participants around the country.
